Statue of Liberty is a word-famous monumental statue located near the entrance to the New York Harbor and welcoming all people coming to the USA. This widely recognized landmark was a gift from the French people made in 1886 to commemorate the centennial of the United States. It was build in France and brought to the States by ship in 350 pieces.
The copper statue itself is 46 meters (151 feet) high, but with the stone pedestal it's placed on reaches the height of 93 m (305 feet). Due to its size and location Statue of Liberty was used as a lighthouse from 1886 to 1902.
The crown of the Statue of Liberty provides a broad view of the New York Harbor, but is closed to the public at this time.
